case study # 2

Write to me starts in my head. I like to think of my topic and brainstorm idea's and make sure I know enough about those ideas before I start writing. After I brain storm a topic I like to write down a few main ideas. Usually I make a list or even make a rough draft before I start typing. If I'm really into what I'm writing about I might just jump right in a start typing. When I write down ideas on pen and paper I feel like I can write anything and just make silly little notes to help me think better. For my final papers I would never hand write it , I can barely read my own writing sometimes so ill always go back and type my papers.

Most of the time I write at night. I go to my computer in the basement where its nice and quiet and all of my ideas just star flowing. Sometimes at school I'm not focused enough to write. I'm either daydreaming, or there's to much noise and commotion going on for me to concentrate. When I'm at home I feel free and I feel like I can write about what ever it is I'm feeling. I can be myself at home and write about things that matter to me. I’m kind of a slow writer, I'm slow at the process of writing and I'm a huge procrastinator. I usually wait till the last minute to write my papers. Ill stay up all night writing them though just to make sure I do my best. I wish I had more time to write, because its a way to express yourself and tell a story in an ordinary way.

  1. Taylor,
Some proscrastination can actually help the writing process. The key is to not let it cheat you out of writing the best paper. There's a balance. If you plan on writing your draft a couple days before it's due (setting your own deadline), then you have time to work with an outside reader...to make sure you are turning in your best possible work.
