This is my last blog for the English 105 class, which makes me happy. For my last blog I chose to write about cops making a crazy effort to bust underage drinking parties. This is a big controversy in my town with the parents and teens. Some parents are mad because their children are the ones being busted, while some think underage drinking is the biggest deal in the world. The cops in Washington are crazy to try to find the party’s. They look on peoples face books, listen to then talk at school and around town. Sometimes they even have their children spy on others to let them know what's going on. This to me is kind of invading our privacy.
There are much worse things happening in the town of Washington then small under age drinking party’s. I know of a party that got busted last year where the cops broke into the house kicked in all the doors, and there all the teens on the ground . The cops proceeded to scream and curse at all of the children, acting like they had committed a murder and bank robbery. This to me is unlawful. Some of the teen there were only 15 years old they don't need to be treated like an adult and being pushed around and thrown on the ground. Cops just need to ease up and get off their power trip. the cops and just the way people in general treat people in Washington makes me never want to raise my family in that town. I hope this blog hasn't offended anyone.

Generation Y
The family life of generation Y is similar to generation X, due to the fact of divorce. Its also very different though because many fathers are becoming the main providers in single families, also there's the fact that more people are adopting and starting families at young ages now. Many people my age have divorced parents, including myself. My parents have been divorced since I was 2 years old. I use to live with my mother up until the middle of high school, now I live with my father. Fathers have changed there rolls in children's life, they try to spend more time with them and they even take leaves of absence when they children are born to bond as a family. Most parents that are single want to stay single now for the most of there child's youth. I think this is because it would confuse the younger children if new father figures are in and out of there lives.
There are more younger parents now too. I know while I was in high school there was at least 6 girls pregnant maybe even more. This has just recently began to change. When my 22year old cousin was in school she said that there was only 1 person in her school pregnant. Its becoming more accepted by young and old. Some parents are even adopting children in generation Y, this was very unusual in generation X. I know a few people who’s parents have adopted or they have placed there own child up for adoption. I think its a safe alternative if your unable to conceive or unable to care for your child. These are just some of the reasons the family has changed from generation X to now generation Y.

my writing now
I think my writing has grown by taking English 105. When I first found out that I got placed in English 105 and reading 104 I was a little angry. Now that I have been in these classes I'm actually glad I took them. They are both very good classes that will prepare me for English 110. The only thing I’m still nervous about is speaking in front of a group of 20 or more strangers. The writing part of English 110 should be so much easier for me that iv relearned the basics of writing and got a little more comfortable with myself as a writer.
My writing has grown from high school to now. I know the correct MLA format now, I know how to make a story more appealing to all readers, and make them interesting to myself. When I first came into English 105 I thought it was a mistake, I thought that I was just a bad test taker under pressure. Which I am, but that wasn't the case. I actually needed to relearn certain things about writing and learn completely new things about writing. I still feel like my writing could use some more help with my writing. I need to learn how to write more interesting first paragraphs, and stop putting so many random facts in my paper that are off topic. This is why I'm glad we still have a while left in the class so I can learn all I need to learn before entering English 110.

From highschool to college
College is a big step in most peoples lives. Its the transition from childhood to maturing in to adults. I can honestly say I think iv grown up with my short time iv spent at college. I learned to realize you really do need to come to class and do all of the homework assigned to you. In high school I use to miss at least 40 days a year. Ill admit I wasn't always sick on those days, but I just needed a break. I hated having to go to high school from 8 am till 3 pm. It took up my whole day. Then when I would finally get out of school, I would have to rush and get ready for work.
The classes I'm taking at ICC are kind of similar to high school to me. Except for the homework. I have a lot of homework each night plus I work 6 days a week. This is a lot to do, but it helps that I only go to school in the morning. This leaves me with time to take a nap before work and do some of my homework. When starting ICC, I was very nervous of what to expect. I seem to always think of the worst scenarios of everything. Many thoughts went through my head on that first day, for getting lost, to not knowing anyone in my classes, and even dreading to meet my new teachers. I soon found out that I love college, I love my teachers, and the new friends I have made. ICC is a good school, and it helped me with the transition from high school to college. I’m really glad I came here first before I went off to a 4 year university.

wiki/ word dream
The wiki project is a very unique project. It’s unlike anything iv ever done for school. You get to put your own input on a word and what that word means to you. Every word has its own unique, and even personal meaning to every individual. I use words everyday through out life, you use them even when your not thinking about it. I never thought I could learn so much about one single word, and let along make new connections to the word.
The word I chose to do my wiki project on was dream. Dream is a very passionate, positive word. I like to try to always be a positive person, even in the hard times life faces you with. I just recently lost another close friend on September 25th, it was a very hard thing to go through. Especially since iv been through this same thing almost 2 years ago, and the 2 boys were really close. What got me through these tough times is just dreaming, and looking at it in the best way. I dream that they are both living it up in heaven, and that ill be with them again someday. Life has many different obstacles, and things you need to experience first hand to know how it feels. But if you dream of something just make it happen. Anything can happen if you just try.

Pro Marijuana
The debate to legalize marijuana has been going on for some time now. Some people take it super seriously and some people are just laid back about the whole argument. I am pro legalizing marijuana. Many people all around the world have smoked marijuana. No one is forcing them to smoke, it is there choice to inhale the drug. Marijuana has been known to help cure terminally ill people. Such as AIDS victims, people with glaucoma, and cancer patients.
It helps the AIDS victims stimulate their appetites to fight off dangerous emaciation. Glaucoma sufferers use marijuana to help prevent them from going blind and helps cancer patients deal with there severe nausea that often comes with chemotherapy. Marijuana can cause some short term memory loss but only while under the influence. Long term memory loss does not come with smoking the drug. Neither does it lead to harder drugs. Marijuana does not cause brain damage, genetic damage, or damage the immune system.
Unlike alcohol, marijuana does not kill brain cells or induce violent behavior. I read a poll online done by the United States government, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the Bureau of Mortality Statistic that shows annual American deaths. Marijuana was last on the list with zero deaths. The pole said that tobacco caused 400,000, alcohol caused 100,000, all legal drugs caused 20,000, all illegal drugs caused 15,000, caffeine caused 2,000, and aspirin caused 500. I think more people should worry about the affects alcohol has on our body over the effects of marijuana.

the lit snap assignment
The lit snap assignment that we were given as a class to do, I think was a very helpful project. It helped me to learn the presses of writing better, to make better uses of words, and to show real emotion. At first I was dreading writing this paper so I kept putting it off. Once I finally chose my topic I knew how good of a paper I could write. I wrote my paper about how a book helped me through the tuff times and the grieving presses, after the death of a close friend. It was a very hard topic to write about , it was hard for me as a writer to give the emotion that I felt in such a terrible time in my young life.
When I finished writing my first draft of my paper, I wasn't to sure how I felt about it. I mean I thought it was good, but I knew it needed some work. I'm really glad we got all of the feedback on our papers from peers and from Stephanie. All of this helped me to finish my paper and make it that much better. The final paper that I'm turning in I fell really proud about it. I corrected all of the things Stephanie had suggested, and y paper just flows now. My paper may not be perfect or something to brag about, but this paper really helped me ad a writer. I feel like the next big assignment we get ill be ready for it!
