Case Study

In school write is very different then out of school writing for me. In school I write about what topic is given to me. Out of school writing to me is mainly texting and facebook. One of the only times I would use in school writing out side of school would be when I was doing homework or maybe if I was typing a letter for an important even. In school writing is more proper and more thought out, where as out of school writing is laid back. When I'm texting I rarely ever worry about spelling if I'm not sure how to sell something I guess and I know my friends will understand, but at school I use spell check or a dictionary to make sure everything is correctly spelled.
Also I think the variety of writing is different, in school you write about the topic your given or school appropriate topics. Where as out of school ill write about anything such as fights, drinking, school, work , boy, and so on. I personally would never write about me drinking at school unless it was an autobiography. I wouldn't feel comfortable writing that when I have no clue who could read it, but when I'm texting or using facebook I can send it to one person and know that that's the only person reading it. If I had to choice which one I would rather do it would definitely be out of school write, I just feel more comfortable and there's less stress I have to worry about.

  1. Taylor, you've touched on some very important points about writing here...primarily how the audience and purpose of what we're writing affects the way that we write. We're going to spend lots of time this semester thinking about this...
